DxD HealthTech’s Summer Innovation & Exploration Series was held June 23-24 in Mountain View, California, hosted by Fogarty Innovation and Stanford Biodesign, which both support DxD. Over 45 interns from healthtech companies across the country participated in the immersive two-day experience, which featured keynote speakers, panels, hands-on workshops, networking and one-on-one speed mentoring sessions. Ciara Dillon, a student at University College Dublin, is an intern at The Foundry which sponsored its interns’ participation in the series. Here, she shares the the greatest insights she gained from the experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the healthtech pioneers of this century and the unique backgrounds of each speaker.
I learnt a new perspective from each speaker within the healthtech industry and had many takeaways from the two day event.
The most important takeaways for me were:
- Nobody has a clear plan of where they are going in their career. There will be zig-zags and obstacles but we learn from these experiences. It makes us unique and helps us find our areas of interest and passion. Trying new areas/interests will open doors you would never have imagined.
- Listen to your gut. Don’t let anyone say that you should/shouldn’t do something in your life. Trust your judgement and if you have ideas that are not supported by others, that doesn’t mean you should drop them.
- Choose to expand. Develop your authentic voice and get out of the safe spaces that are so easily occupied. Move to challenging environments to develop your mindset and skills.
