For the third year in a row, DxD students attended the industry’s flagship event, the MedTech Conference, thanks to the generous support of AdvaMed. This year’s conference in San Diego, California, brought more than 3,700 medtech leaders from 38 countries together October 5-8 for panel discussions, keynote speakers, networking sessions and exhibits.

In all, 28 DxD students participated in MedTechCon, from volunteering for the MedTech Color Networking Breakfast to generating ideas for surgical robots in a hackathon-style innovation challenge. Here are a few of their biggest takeaways from the conference:

The MedTech Conference was an incredible experience that exposed me to incredible technological innovations and emerging trends across the medtech industry. I met accomplished professionals shaping the future of medtech, from startup CEOs to Fortune 500 biopharma executives, and left feeling deeply inspired by the impact they’ve created throughout their careers. Hearing about the work being done to increase accessibility to medical devices gave me hope for the future and strengthened my motivation to contribute to that change. – Miriya Mayenkar

Robotics Competition

DxD students joined the Digital Tech and Robotics Innovation Challenge at MTC25

This year was my first time attending the Medtech Conference. I left feeling inspired and full of new insight. Getting the opportunity to connect with industry leaders was an invaluable experience. I had the opportunity to connect with CEOs and companies that I have long admired. I even got to learn about some that I have never heard of that are doing amazing and innovative work that I hope to contribute to. The professional advice I was given was the biggest takeaway and I will carry it with me for the rest of my career. I also competed in my first robotics competition and I loved every second of it! Big thanks to AdvaMed and DxD for sponsoring my trip. – Camaree McCully

At each MedTech Conference, I am reminded of what I am working towards. It is not just seeing those like me gain new achievements. What really re-invigorates me, especially since I am still early in my career, is seeing leaders who are genuinely passionate about the work that they do and how that work can make a difference in people’s lives. In talking to every person possible, I was able to gain new insights and perspectives even in fields that are adjacent to mine.– Dharvi Jindal

I had the privilege this year to attend my third MedTechCon with DxD. As a young professional, I’ve come into this space with new perspectives and leave with new takeaways each time. From community college to undergrad, graduate school to your early career, the conference offers mentors, guidance, and unlimited resources to aid you in all stages of your career.  – Sammy Rogers

After the MedTech Conference, I left with a newfound love for the field of medtech. Going with the Diversity by Doing program made me confident, knowing I had people with similar experiences and background going to a conference where the majority of people are accomplished CEOs, executives, and medtech leaders. I highly recommend going to anyone who is interested — you’ll leave with more than you came with. – Brian Sawaya

As a recent graduate, the MedTech Conference was an incredible experience to reconnect with the medtech community and see the innovation driving the future of healthcare firsthand. From conversations with founders and investors to panels on global access and health equity, the conference reminded me why I’m so passionate about bridging medicine, technology, and impact. – Alyssa Espinal

One tip that I’d like to share with other students is to practice/type up a 30 second pitch so that they can feel confident when making connections at the MedTech conference. – Sofia Milian

Having the opportunity to connect and learn from the journey of leaders and students in the medtech field is priceless. Learning from different backgrounds and perspectives fuels my desire to increase diversity in the field to make a real impact and empower underserved communities. This year’s conference inspired me to continue working towards accessibility of technologies and equitable care. Participating in the robotics competition helped me practice my leadership skills, connect and collaborate with other students, and explore ways to innovate personalized care and surgical procedures. – Karla Serafin Medina
