FROM THE HOSPITAL LAUNDRY ROOM TO THE C-SUITE

Mentor: Sam Conaway

Sam Conaway is the President, US Cardiology Sales at Boston Scientific. In this Speed Mentoring keynote, Conaway shares his journey rising through the ranks from the hospital laundry room to becoming a cardiovascular technician, and then transition into a career in medical device sales.

These dynamic, fast-paced events combine brief yet impactful presentations on career development, personal growth, and the transformative power of mentorship. Participants also engage in one-on-one meetings with senior industry executives during three focused breakout sessions, creating invaluable opportunities to expand their professional networks and gain personalized insights. Space is limited, but there is no charge to participate.

2025 Speed Mentoring

Speed mentoring participants are encouraged to use the event as an introduction to the power of mentorship. In addition to motivating the participants to seek mentors, the connections made and ideas shared during the event are thought provoking and actionable.

DxD holds three speed mentoring events each year for early to mid-career women and underrepresented minorities in the health technology industry. We also hold a special speed mentoring event for college students as part of our Healthtech Exploration Workshop.

Rene Candy“I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your warmth and generosity during our interaction. Throughout the event, your approachability and genuine interest in supporting others were truly inspiring to witness. And I really appreciated all the attention and affirmation provided during our twelve-minute session!

—Rene Canady

“The speed mentoring session was really helpful because I was able to talk to quite a few professors and scientists who gave great advice on next steps after graduating. But almost all of the mentors emphasized that we should not worry about if one decision you make now is going to help you land your dream career. Instead, take advantage of every opportunity you get and live each experience to the fullest.”

—Cherease Lamm, DxD Summer Innovation & Exploration Series

“I honestly feel like I hit the jackpot with the mentors I was paired up with for the 1-on-1 sessions. I took away something different from each conversation.”

—Marissa Borja

“I believe DxD is doing something that shouldn’t be groundbreaking but feels like it might be.”
