Addressing Resistance to Equity Efforts in Medtech in 2025
March 27, 2025 @ 9 a.m. PST on Zoom
In this webinar, you’ll see the current resistance to diversity initiatives within the context of shifting workplace culture over the decades, and discover its impact on innovation. You’ll learn how to make the business case for inclusion in medtech by showing how it drives market share and improves patient outcomes. We’ll discuss strategies for reframing the conversation around inclusion, and give you practical tools for building resilient, sustainable programs that advance health equity.
In this session you’ll master:
Understanding the pushback:
- Analyzing the reasons behind resistance to inclusion efforts (e.g., political polarization, “anti-woke” movements, misperceptions of quotas vs. meritocracy).
- Exploring the impact of this resistance on workplace culture and industry innovation.
The business case for inclusion in medtech:
- Data-driven insights showing how inclusive teams improve decision-making, problem-solving, and patient outcomes.
- Examples of medtech products that failed or succeeded based on the inclusivity of their development teams.
Strategies to reframe and reinforce inclusion efforts:
- Shifting the conversation from compliance to business and human innovation.
- Focusing on shared goals, such as advancing health equity and tapping into broader markets.
- Training leaders to manage resistance constructively and communicate the long-term benefits of inclusion.
