The DxD Summer HealthTech Exploration Workshop was held June 27-28 at Fogarty Innovation and Stanford Biodesign. Forty-six interns from healthtech companies across the country participated in the immersive two-day experience, which featured keynote speakers, panels, hands-on workshops, networking and one-on-one speed mentoring sessions. Maryory Madrid, a student at Foothill Community College, is an intern at Fogarty Innovation, which sponsored their summer interns’ participation in the program. Here, Maryory shares her reflections on the workshop.
As I look back on my journey at the DxD Summer Healthtech Exploration Workshop, I am filled with immense gratitude for the eye-opening experience it provided. This two-day event proved to be a transformative opportunity, offering me insights into the fascinating world of healthtech that I will carry with me throughout my career. I had the chance to interact with fellow interns from companies like The Foundry, SI-Bone, and Imperative Care. The networking opportunities provided during the workshop were invaluable. I learned the importance of building connections and forming relationships with individuals who share similar interests and aspirations.
One of the highlights was the speed mentoring session on the second day. This allowed me to engage with seasoned professionals like Toni-Moi Prince, who generously shared valuable experiences and advice. Their guidance opened my eyes to the diverse array of job opportunities within the healthtech sector, motivating me to explore various career paths with newfound confidence.
I was eager to hear about the experiences of other interns, and their feedback was equally positive.
“I was able to network with people who are interested in the same industry as me.”
“I received valuable insights on interviewing techniques to gauge work atmospheres effectively.”
“The workshop made me more confident in my opinion while knowing there are people out there who are willing to support me.”
Overall, the DxD Summer Healthtech Exploration Workshop was a transformative event. It provided me with the knowledge, connections, and inspiration to fuel my journey in the healthtech industry. I will forever cherish the memories of those two remarkable days and the impact they had on my personal and professional growth.
